Michelle Muldoon is a force of nature. I have scored every film she has made and collaborating with her continues to be the joy of my professional life. She pushes me to be a better musician and I trust her implicitly.

Last Stand to Nowhere is an all-female re-imagining of one of the most iconic of Western stories, the Gunfight at the OK Corral; a story that transcends history to become a tale of modern Western Mythology.

It's a short proof of concept film that pays homage to both the classic American Western and the iconic Italian interpretation, and now re-imagined by a Canadian team of female filmmakers.

On this film I worked with the wonderfully-talented Neil Zimmerman on guitar. His skills took this score to a whole new level that I could not have imagined. I’m very grateful that he agreed to work with me on this project.

About the score: Michelle took a risk with the music, by adding it only to key moments and not having it pre-empt the emotion which you often see with mainstream North American soundtracks.

The score is sparse, minimalist and almost European in nature. I’m very proud of it and also how the film depicts women.

In a #MeToo world this film adds to the dialogue and contributes to the diversity of female characters that many of us - myself included - have been longing to see on-screen.

Action, loyalty and pride. A perfect storm!

Last Stand to Nowhere is currently making its way around the festival circuit. It has been nominated for and won a variety of awards, including a Best Score nomination for myself. Yay!
